How we write
The Tilibou blog is about bedtime, sleep and the feelings of little ones. Here is who writes it, where our advice comes from, and how you can check every piece of it.
Who writes it
The blog is written by the Tilibou team. We make audio bedtime stories for children aged 2 to 5, to listen to without a screen. Tilibou is published by DIGITEYES SAS, based in France.
We are not doctors or psychologists. That is why our advice is based on reference sources, and never on our opinion alone.
Where our advice comes from
We start from public, recognized and free sources that anyone can look up:
- Assurance Maladie (ameli.fr), the French national health insurance, and Santé publique France (mangerbouger.fr), the French public health agency, for sleep and screens;
- the World Health Organization (who.int);
- Naître et grandir (naitreetgrandir.com), a Quebec website about child development;
- Mpedia (mpedia.fr), the website of the AFPA, the French association of ambulatory pediatrics;
- for the science questions children ask, popular science sources such as the European Space Agency (ESA) or the Centre des sciences de Montréal, a science museum in Canada.
When these sources give figures, such as hours of sleep, we present them by age and as guidelines: every child has their own rhythm.
How we cite
- When we quote a source in quotation marks “ ”, the French version copies the sentence word for word from the cited page, and we check that it is really there before publishing. On this page, the quotation is our translation of that exact passage. The little phrases to say to your child are also in quotation marks: those ones are ours.
- When we sum up a source in our own words, we write it without quotation marks, for example: Naître et grandir recommends…
- Every page we used is listed at the bottom of the article, with a link.
- We do not give medical advice. Our articles do not replace the advice of a doctor or pediatrician: if your child's sleep or health worries you, they are the ones to turn to.
Our articles in other languages
The blog exists in six languages. Articles are written in French, then translated. The sources remain the French pages cited at the bottom of each article, and the quotations in the article are our own translations.
Our stories in our articles
Each article suggests a Tilibou story to listen to at bedtime. These are our own stories: we suggest them because they deal with the same topic as the article, and we would rather say so clearly. The site is ad-free.
Dates and corrections
Each article shows the date it was last updated. When a source changes or disappears, we update the article, and its date along with it.
Spotted a mistake, an inaccurate quotation or a link that no longer works? Write to us at contact@tilibou.fr. We correct it, and the article's update date changes.
