The Last Round

⏱ 12 min · 👶 from age 3

It is Christmas night, and the great round is drawing to a close. All night long, Santa has flown from one end of the world to the other, leaving presents and hanging stockings on tiptoe, without waking a soul. And now, high up in the winter sky, the sleigh glides ever so gently. Only one present is left in the Great Sack, the very last: this is the last house, the last round. «We're nearly done,» whispers little Pim. «All night we've flown, and every child in the world is asleep now with a present near them.» Santa smiles into his big beard. «Listen to the sky, how calm it is, my Pim. This is the most beautiful moment of the year. Not the setting off. The end. When everything has been given, and all that's left is to head home, ever so gently.» On the way back, the sleigh glides over the towns, the villages and the little houses asleep under the snow, where every child is dreaming a lovely dream. And Pim discovers a happiness he didn't know yet: that soft, calm, peaceful happiness you feel after giving well, when the tiredness is happy and the heart is full. This story, the very last of the Christmas season, offers your child a precious idea to keep in their heart: the joy of giving is worth just as much, and sometimes even more, than the joy of receiving. And the rest, afterwards, is all the sweeter and more deserved when the day has been well filled. A lovely end to the round, brimming with gratitude and tenderness. And when the sleigh finally lands on the North Pole snow, and the great wooden house drifts off to sleep in turn by the fireside, everything grows wonderfully peaceful and warm. The story then ends ever so gently, like a long and beautiful night coming to a good close, ready to carry your little one, content, all the way to the quiet land of dreams. Santa doesn't boast about his enormous round, and he doesn't speak of all he has given. He simply savours the calm, the happy tiredness and the quiet joy of a job well done: relishing the discreet happiness of having done good, without making a fuss of it, is the whole spirit of Tilibou bedtime stories. And on the homeward sleigh, the bells chime softly, like a lullaby for the road. A screen-free Christmas story for toddlers from age 2, lovely at bedtime, at nap time, or on the road. As always with Tilibou, the ending stays soft and quiet, without music, so your little one can settle down calmly. All the Tilibou bedtime stories at
