The Big Box of Colours

That morning, at Lila's school, a big table is covered with fresh white paper. On it, brushes and pots of colour: red like a strawberry, yellow like the sun, blue like the big gate. Miss Lou claps her hands: «Today is painting day!» All the children cheer «yay!»… all of them, except one. Lila takes a little step back. Because this morning, Lila is wearing a pretty clean dress, with little flowers, that Mum washed and that smells lovely.
