The Night Emma Felt a Little Warm

⏱ 8 min · 👶 from age 2

A bedtime story for children. This morning, Emma wakes up with rosy cheeks, a little too rosy. She doesn't jump out of bed like she usually does. Mom rests a hand on her forehead: so warm. "Warm. Mo-chi." Today, no park and no running around. Today is a couch day, curled up against Mom, nice and warm under the blanket. All day long, Emma dozes a little, drinks a little water and rests a lot. Mochi, her lovey, stays right against her warm cheek without moving. "Mo-chi, stay." A quiet story, a song hummed low, a cuddle, another cuddle: the day goes by, slow as a Sunday. In the evening, there is a lukewarm bath, soft pajamas, a little spoonful of syrup, and Mom stays close. Tonight, the lighthouse kiss glows even brighter. When Emma falls asleep, the Evening World wakes up in a whisper. Ball says good evening without a sound, and Nina says it plainly: tonight, let's take good care of her. The Evening World becomes a gentle infirmary. Pantin brings a little corner of the quilt, nice and fresh, and Nina places it on Emma's forehead: a quilt compress. Mochi adjusts it, nicely centered. Then he holds out a tiny invisible cup of imaginary tea that smells of honey and of cuddles. One imaginary sip, another, nice and slow. Ball rolls to the edge of the bed and curls up there to keep watch. This story about a sick day shows your child what being cared for feels like: slow gestures, soft voices, and friends who stay close. There are no medical words here, just a warm forehead and a lot of tenderness. Parents can play it on a sick day at home, when a little one needs calm more than anything. Mochi opens his Cuddle Box and picks the cuddle from the couch day, curled up against Mom. At the bottom, there is an older yarn ball, from another little cold, long since better. It always passes, says Pantin. And for the first time, Mochi wraps the yarn ball not around one worry, but around Emma entirely. Tonight, the poc-poc stays very slow until morning, and Nina barely sleeps, watching over Emma. In the morning, her cheeks are less rosy and her forehead less warm. "Better." And tomorrow, the park will be waiting. No one hurries Emma to feel better, and no one makes a fuss. Mom stays calm from beginning to end, and the toys simply watch over her all night long: this way of wrapping a child in care instead of worry is the whole spirit of Tilibou bedtime stories. And all the while, Pantin snores ever so softly, a little wooden snore, while the quilt compress waits on the pillow for the first ray of sunshine. A screen-free lovey story for children from age 2, perfect to enjoy warm and cozy at bedtime, in the car, or before a nap. As always with Tilibou, the ending stays soft and quiet, without music, so your child can drift off to sleep without waking anyone up.
